This painting is about shared human life experiences. Landscapes are not static; they are the mirrors that reflect human behaviour. The depiction of a brutal landscape is a reminder of global warming is environmental trauma caused by humanity. I love to explore the connections and relationships that exist between people and animals. As destructors and carnivores we are responsible for the fate of animals and wildlife with whom we share the earth. The inclusion of my oriental cat reminds us of the cycle of death (revealed by the skulls) and rebirth (revealed by the naked figures) which we share with our environment and fellow animals.

I have been careful not to 'overwork' this painting. If the viewer considers that there could be more work to be done I have succeeded in my intention, for the ‘unfinished’ or 'wanting more' is symbolic of hope, for the future and a better version of the world for us all.

Practical stuff...

This painting is “wrapped” ie the painting extends around the chunky sides of the canvas for perfect viewing when hung without a frame.
